My Favourite Links

I am deeply interested in Oberon. Oberon is the name of a programming language and an operating system developed at the ETH. It is a modern, integrated software environment for single-user workstations, includes a language in the Pascal and Modula-2 tradition, and a highly effective and compact operating platform. The Oberon project was launched in 1985 by Niklaus Wirth and Jürg Gutknecht. While this project was originally targeted towards in-house built hardware, ported versions of the Oberon language and system are now available for numerous commercial platforms.

Another cool research project developed here at the ETH is the object-oriented database system OMS. OMS is an implementation of all the concepts defined in the OM Object Model. Working with both Oberon and OMS allowed me to understand how important is to consider the programming language side together with the database management side. They are complementary, and my vision is that in the near future we will see more research and products in this direction.

Think Different

Do you think different? Even if I am no more an Apple evangelist and I do not think anymore that Macintosh is the solution for all the problems, I like to use MacOS X and I liked their advertising campaign. If I may add a sentence, I would say: "Think different, be tolerant".

If you are interested in Apple, MacInTouch keeps you up-to-date about the situation (new software, big events, new products) in the Apple-world. Mac Rumors has often hot insider news about Apple. For all the wistful people, visit the history of Apple. To download or search for shareware & freeware programs, have a look to VersionTracker Online, the number 1 source for Macintosh updates.

I can not forget to mention Linux, the operating system which incarnates the principles of the GNU project, the driving force for the open source movement. Visit SlashDot, THE site for hackers and not :-)
